The Central Science Library will close in June 2015 as part of the planned redevelopment of the New Museums Site. The Library is currently consulting with its users and key stakeholders to ensure that essential library services for all science disciplines will continue. These library services will be managed from the Betty and Gordon Moore Library which is situated on the Centre for Mathematical Sciences site in Wilberforce Road.
Core collections from the CSL will be transferred to the Moore Library, as well as existing CSL staff who will continue to provide services to the science community.
If you have any queries or comments, please contact Yvonne Nobis, Head of Science Information, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Prior to the closure of the CSL, the book collections (with the exception of reading list material) have now been transferred to our sister library, the Betty and Gordon Moore Library. Reading list material remains at the CSL but will be non-borrowable until the end of term, at which point will then be transferred to the Moore Library
Reader's cards for the CSL are valid at the Moore Library but readers will need to register as a new user on their first visit.
Existing CSL loans
Book renewals, on existing loans, are possible but readers should be aware that once renewed the books should be returned to the Moore Library and not the CSL. All renewals will have to be undertaken by library staff at the CSL and readers will be unable to renew through MyLibrary account for existing CSL loans. We will create a new patron record at the Moore as part of the renewal process. Currently, readers will also have to do a paper registration with the Moore when they first visit.
We will also be waiving all fines on outstanding loans at this time of upheaval.
