Dr Daniel Davies

Dan DaviesDr Daniel Davies has worked in the Unit as a part-time Research Associate since 2008, describing a variety of material. Before arriving he was the Spalding Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge.

His academic career began at the University of Birmingham, where he took a first class degree in Theology, following which he moved to the Faculty of Divinity in Cambridge for postgraduate research in philosophical theology. His reworked doctoral thesis will appear in the American Academy of Religion Series Reflection and Theory in the Study of Religion published by Oxford University Press, with the title Method and Metaphysics in Maimonides' Guide. His main research interest is in philosophy and theology, with particular focus on medieval Arabic and Hebrew.At present he is working on a joint project to publish Galen's philosophical writings with accompanying introductions and commentaries, which will appear as part of the Cambridge Galen Translations series. Meanwhile he is acting as a sessional lecturer in religious studies at Canterbury Christ Church University.
