Projects
The Taylor-Schechter Genizah Research Unit is currently engaged in a major Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project to complete the cataloguing and description of the heart of the Taylor-Schechter Collection, the Old Series, and selected manuscripts from the newly-rediscovered Jacques Mosseri Genizah Collection. With the financial support of the Friedberg Genizah Project, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to furthering the cause of Genizah research, we also maintain a comprehensive bibliography of the Collection.
Together with the Library’s Conservation Department, we are conserving the 7000 unconserved manuscripts of the Jacques Mosseri Genizah Collection, which is on long-term loan from the Mosseri family.
Thanks to the generosity of the Friedberg Genizah Project and its sister organisation, the Jewish Manuscript Preservation Society, we are two years into a three-year project to digitise the entire T-S Collection and make the images freely available online. Nearly two-thirds of the images are already accessible through FGP’s online database, and Cambridge’s new Digital Library will eventually also host every image, with full searchable metadata and bibliography.
