List of Roberto Gerhard's Manuscripts in the Cambridge University Library and elsewhere. Compiled by Richard Andrewes in October 1992, amended November 1994 (and later)

This list is based on the catalogue of manuscripts deposited in the C.U.L. with additional information derived from the published catalogues of David Drew and David Atherton, and unpublished lists made for the composer or his widow by the BBC, the PRS, Mills Music, and others.  In its present form it is a work in progress> if you can add useful information please send an email to music@lib.cam.ac.uk© Cambridge University Library: information contained herein must not be published without permission from the Syndics of the Cambridge University Library.

Manuscripts in the C.U.L Gerhard Archive are given part of their shelf number. The full number always starts with "MS.Gerhard." Full descriptions are available in typescript in the Manuscript Department Reading Room. Some are already on the online catalogue, the rest will be added in due course. Gerhard manuscripts acquired later have been added under "MS.Add" numbers.

Other locations are the British Library (Lbl), the British Broadcasting Corporation Music Library (BBC), the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (Cfm), and the Archives of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford (RSC). A few are in private possesion. Those items marked UNKN are presumed to have exitsted at some time, but may now be missing or unidentified. There are some titles in the PRS lists that have not beene unidentified.

Four items in the Centre de Documentació Musical de la Generalitat, Barcelona (CDMG) are mentioned in an artical 'Roberto Gerhard, de nou' by Montserrat Albet, in Revista de Catalunya, 2a època, no. 59, 1992, p.82.

Several manuscripts are in the Institut d'Estudis Vallencs, Valls (VALLS), and are described in the catalogue prepared by Joana Crespi in 1993 (information supplied by Agustí Salvado).
