Archive has autograph full score in pencil "completed London, July 1949", sketches in ink and pencil with various datings "London (December 15) 1947-1948" "June 1949","ideas for Symphony no. 1" loose-leaf piano score, some annotations in the hand of Doreen Carwithen, and a bound photocopy of the original score, with timings in an unknown hand (possibly Sir John Barbirolli's?), and cuts as marked for the premiere by Barbirolli - MS.Alwyn.1.2.48-51.
Recorded by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by John Barbirolli, recorded at BBC Studios, 11 June 1952. Re-issued by Dutton CDSJB 1029 (2005).
