Overture to a masque Orchestration : 2222.4231.timp.perc.xyl.hp.str(76452) Overture to a masque was originally intended to be premiered in the Promenade Concert season of 1940, the first performance was cancelled when the Proms season was cut short due to air-raids. It was finally premiered 65 years later in St. Giles' Church, Northampton on the 12th November 2005. Recordings : Recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Richard Hickox on William Alwyn Symphony no. 2. CHAN 9093.
