Note that the "Cost per download" included in the information for each package on this page is calculated for the most recent complete calendar year that usage statistics for the publisher are available.  The calculation is done by dividing the total cost of the package (including VAT) by the "Reporting Period Total" of the "Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month and Journal" in the COUNTER JR1 report.  A second calculation is given for each package which is for the same metric minus the article requests on the archive portion of a package and minus the Gold Open Access (GOA) article requests (neither of which are or should be part of the subscription cost).   For more information on COUNTER usage reports see the Project COUNTER Code of Practice.

Open Access offsetting arrangements

The ACS OA Benefit Program provides open access credits redeemable against open access author publishing charges (APCs). The number of open access credits is based upon subscription spend.

At the start of each calendar year, ACS will issue the Consortia Open access credits.  For individual account level, each account will be issued credits based on the value of their current year’s subscription to ACS Web Editions journals, divided by ACS’s standard APC rate of $4000.

Post-cancellation access Post-cancellation access to all material published during the term of the licence and all preceding licences by one or more of the following options: i) continuing online access to archival copies of the same Licensed Material on the Publisher's server; ii) supplying archival copies of the same Licensed Material to the Institution in an electronic medium mutually agreed between the parties

Post-cancellation access Subscriber retains access to each year of content for which a paid subscription was maintained, beginning with the 1999 term. There is no charge for such access as long as subscriber has an active paid subscription to any AIP Publishing archival journal. If Subscriber lapses all AIP Publishing titles, then AIP Publishing will charge an annual maintenance fee for continued online access to any previously subscribed material. The Subscriber also has the option to host such content, starting with the 1999 subscription year and published during the term for which a paid subscription was maintained, on the Subscriber’s computer networks,for distribution only to Authorized Users within the Authorized Site.

Post-cancellation access The Publisher will provide (at the option of the Sub-Licensee) the Sub-Licensee and its Authorised Users with continuous access to and use of the full text of the Licensed Material which was published and paid for during the term of this Sub-Licence and preceding Sub-Licence Agreements/Licences (where applicable) between the Publisher and the Sub-Licensee, either by one or more of the following options: 8.4 (a) To those agreed Nature and Nature Publishing Group Journals elements indicated in Section A and B of Schedule 2 subject always to the Sub-Licensee’s continued compliance with the terms and conditions of this Sub-Licence and payment of a Post Cancellation Fee (if applicable and as outlined in the Offer and Schedule 1 by the Sub-Licensee on termination or expiry of this Sub-Licence and annually thereafter. In the event that this Sub-Licence is terminated or expires on or before the 31st December 2014, the Post Cancellation Access Fee for the ensuing 12 month period shall be as set out in Schedule 1. The Publisher shall be entitled to increase the Post Cancellation Access Fee in respect of any period after 31st December 2015 including but not limited to reflect any increase in the number of chargeable users, any change in the business of the Sub-Licensee or any increase in supply or other costs incurred by the Publisher. 8.4 (b) To those agreed Third Party Journals elements indicated in Section C of Schedule 4 (the "C Content") subject always to the Sub-Licensee’s continued compliance with the terms and conditions of this Sub-Licence and payment of such reasonable Post Cancellation Access Fee as outlined in the Offer and Schedule 1 (or such alternative supply arrangement terms and costs as the parties may agree); provided that, due to rights restrictions it may only be possible to allow access to the C Content via the Secure Network for a limited period or not at all. The Publisher shall, after the end of such limited period or if it is not able to allow any access via a Secure Network and provided that it has the rights to do so, deliver the C Content in a physical storage media (the "Media") to the Sub-Licensee subject always to the Sub-Licensee’s compliance with the terms of the Media Licence notified to the Sub-Licensee on delivery of the Media that is appropriate for such physical media (for the avoidance of doubt, in respect of the use of the Media and the C Content by the Sub-Licensee the terms of the Media Licence shall prevail over the terms of this Agreement if there is a conflict or other inconsistency) and payment of such reasonable supply fee as the Publisher may from time to time charge to cover its handling costs (or such alternative supply arrangement terms and costs as the parties may agree). The Publisher may terminate the Media Licence at any time upon written notice to the Sub-Licensee if the Sub-Licensee commits a breach of any term of the Media Licence. The termination will become effective thirty days after receipt of written notice unless, in the case of a remediable default, during the relevant period of thirty days the Sub-Licensee has remedied the default
