In July 2007 the Map Department relocated within the University Library building to allow its accommodation (which has been largely untouched since the Library opened in 1934) to be refurbished.

Timetable

• 31 March 2008. MAP DEPARTMENT REOPENED IN ITS NEWLY REFURBISHED ACCOMMODATION
  
  
• (28/2/08) Completion date confirmed
  To enable the Map Department to move from its temporary accommodation back into its refurbished home it will close for a few days at the end of March 2008.
  The Map Department will be:
  CLOSED from Tuesday 25 March to Saturday 29 March 2008 inclusive (Note that the Library is closed over Easter weekend, 21 to 24 March inclusive).
  and will
  REOPEN on Monday 31 March 2008 in its newly refurbished accommodation at the north end of the Library.
  
  
• Wednesday 1 August 2007. After a short period of closure the Map Department reopened in its temporary accommodation at the south end of the West Room.  It will operate from here until March/April 2008, after which there will be a further short closure to allow it to move back to its normal location.

Fetching Restrictions

Between August 2007 and 20 March 2008 (after which we will close for a few days, see above) the Map Department should still be able to retrieve any item requested, but will require at least 24 hours notice to retrieve some items. We are also unable to fetch these items on Saturdays. Click here for a list of these items.
