Help - searching for ejournals
The ejournals@cambridge service providers several means to access University of Cambridge ejournal holdings. Users can search to see if full electronic text for a particular article or title is currently available. They can also browse journals by subject coverage or citation.
The service also creates links in our subscription abstract and index databases that point to our e-journal holdings. Look for the 'ejournals@cambridge - find full text' link when searching databases.

Search types
By journal title
The quickest way to locate an e-journal is via its title:
- Click on the 'by title' tab
- If you know the full journal title, enter it into the box. Alternatively, ff you only know part of the journal title, click on the radio button labeled 'contains' and enter your text
- As you type, a list of suggestions will be displayed. If you wish to use one, move the mouse down the list and click on the suggested title
- When you have entered or selected a title, click on the big purple 'Go' button
- You can also browse journals alphabetically. Click on the letters displayed above the search box to go to titles begining with that letter
When searching, please keep in mind the following tips:
- Use only the main title, do not include any subtitles
- Change "&" to "and"
- If a journal is known by both full title and by initials, try searching by full title first
- If multiple titles are returned by the search, review the information available for each title (publisher, ISSN) and select the title desired based on the information displayed
- Omit initial articles (i.e. 'The')
By subject
You can also browse by subject:
- Click on the 'by subject' tab
- Select a subject area, then a subdivison
- Click on the big purple 'Go' button
- A list of titles will be displayed. Some titles will appear in more than one subject heading
By ISSN
- Click on the 'By citation' tab
- Enter an ISSN. You can include or omit and spaces or hypens
- Click on the big purple 'Go' button
By vendor
- Click on the 'Advanced' tab
- Select a journal vendor from the menu
- Click on the big purple 'Go' button
By citation
- Click on the 'By citation' tab
- Enter as much information about the citation as you can
- Digital Object Identifer's (DOI's) and PubmedID's (PMID's) can be entered into the appropriate at the bottom
- Click on the big purple 'Go' button
Navigating Search results
- Perform one of the searches listed above
- A list of titles will be displayed
- Navigate through them with the shortcut links at the top of the list
- Click on the journal title to go directly to that journal
Otherwise, click on the more options...' link by each title for a full list of search and service options.
- The ejournals@cambridge full text location menu will now be displayed in a new window. You may have the option to go to a particular volume or page, if the journal vendor allows it enter a volume or page and jump to that point
Access and authentication
The majority of ejournals, like many other electronic resources are subscribed to and managed by Librarians on behalf of members of the University. As such, users must authenticate their status as University members in order to access them. In most cases, users accessing resources from a Campus based computer will not require authentication, although some will require login with a Raven userid and password.
Access from home will vary depending on the resource. Where possible, access information is displayed in the ejournals@cambridge service menu. Access requirements by vendor for off and on campus are listed this page
ejournals@cambridge - access from databases, Google Scholar and Windows Live academic
The new ejournals@cambridge service makes it possible to link directly to cambridge ejournals from online abstract and reference resources such as Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, ISI Web of Science and Google Scholar.
When performing a search, look for the link 'ejournals@cambridge- find full text', or the following buttons
or
by a listed abstract or citation. Clicking on this link will search cambridge e-journal holdings for that particular citation.
Google Scholar users should make sure that Cambridge University Library - ejournals@cambridge is set as their library link. To do this, click on the preferences link by the search box. Follow the instructions under 'library links'.
Links in ISI Web of Science are only available for users accessing that resource via the Cambridge domain. If you have prebiously authenticated with Raven, please clear out your browsers' cache and reload the page.
