A state of the art book store, standing at the height of two giraffes and with over 105km of shelving to house 4 million books from the libraries of the University of Cambridge, is opening up its doors for these special guided tours.

As a Legal Deposit Library since 1710, Cambridge University Library has been entitled to claim a copy of every book published in the UK and Ireland for more than 300 years. Today, the University Library collections encompass around nine million books, manuscripts and other physical items. So what happens when the University Library runs out of space to store them all?

Low-use material is now kept in the new state of the art store in Ely and, for the first time, the store is opening its doors to book lovers everywhere with these special guided tours, exclusive for Heritage Open Days.

Tours will take place at 10.00-11.00, 12.00-13.00 and 14.00-15.00.

Spaces are limited and booking is essential. BOOK HERE.
