The final in this series of Sandars Lectures will focus primarily on literary forgeries, a topic of long fascination for Professor Takamiya. It will introduce some of the greatest forgers of English Literature, illustrated with examples from Professor Takamiya's collection. Beginning with Charles Bertram's De Situ Britanniae the lecture will then consider William Henry Ireland's Authentic Account and John Philip Kemble's Fugitive Pieces, before concluding with perhaps the greatest forgery of them all: Constantin Simonides' Illiad scroll, so beloved of Sir Thomas Phillipps.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception at the Parker Library at Corpus Christi College. All are welcome.
