Incremental at University of Glasgow

In 2009 the University of Glasgow undertook a digital preservation scoping study across a range of academic departments and service units. This was to investigate current practices in terms of managing electronic records and data to identify where additional support was needed. The Glasgow approach has been repurposed by Cambridge to focus solely on research data, and is being used as the basis for requirements gathering on Incremental. In Spring 2010 the Incremental team will compare needs at each institution - particularly along disciplinary lines as similar research groups have been approached to take part. Based on the findings we will work with participants to develop support services and infrastructures that assist with research data management.

Findings and outputs of the Incremental project will primarily be shared on this website. The University of Glasgow’s webpage on the digital preservation scoping study serves as an explanation of earlier research being used as an input to Incremental.
