Why deposit?
Why should content such as research papers, data, theses and other be deposited in DSpace@Cambridge? In this section we clarify what the benefits of deposit are for the various groups involved in deposit and use of DSpace@Cambridge.
For researchers:
- Increase the visibility of your material
- Entrust storage and preservation to the DSpace@Cambridge team
- Comply with funder’s requirements to deposit research output in an open repository
- Store and link research data to related articles
- Simplify re-use of material for teaching purposes
- Manage your material through your own website
- Avoid broken links by relying on stable URLs
For departments:
- Scholarly content deposited in DSpace@Cambridge can function as a “Shop window” displaying the research output from the department. By utilising the newly developed web services interface (based on SOAP) the department can chose do this through its own web site.
- In addition DSpace@Cambridge facilitates digital storage and preservation in a secure environment.
