DSpace@Cambridge Newsletter Lent term 2012

CRASSH seminar poster1. New project: PrePARe is a 9 month JISC funded project (Nov 2011-Jul 2012) which aims to investigate what aspects of preservation and information management are particularly relevant to academics and what modes of guidance or training the community would find most appealing and valuable. We are aiming to develop relevant content on preservation actions based on these findings. If you are interested in helping us by being interviewed, please contact us.

2. Training: Check out one or our regular training sessions on Data Management designed to help researchers to manage their data effectively by giving practical advice, and to make them aware of some of the legal issues involved. Courses in the UL are open to all University members involved in academic activities and the next course will run in Easter Term. Please check the Research Skills Portal for more about future courses. Information about the session held earlier this term can be found here: Be The Boss of Your Hard Drive - Working With Digital Data

3. Seminar: Using Social Media Data for Research: The Ethical Challenges

Data collected from social media is being increasingly used by researchers across a wide range of disciplines. The speakers will  reflect in this seminar on the ethical challenges they have faced working on research projects using data gathered from Twitter and mobile phone users.
