Catherine's research focuses on the history and provenance of the manuscripts and archives relating to the Near and Middle Eastern collections as observed through the academic tradition of studies at Cambridge which date from the early seventeenth century to present times.

Catherine has published on the lives and exploits of the scholars, manuscript collectors and travelers whose personal papers and libraries form the core of Cambridge collections.
