Cambridge University Library

Easter break: any Scan and Deliver requests placed on Thursday 28th March may not be processed until Tuesday 2nd April.

Scan and Deliver allows current staff and students (including ICE staff and students, and NHS partners) to request an individual scanned copy of one chapter (or 5%) of a monograph or one article per issue of a journal from collections held by Cambridge University Libraries, subject to relevant  conservation approval and copyright permissions.

Free digital scans of University Library Special Collections items may be ordered for personal research use if the material is suitable for scanning and the volume of the request is reasonable.

It is possible to order a printout of a chapter or article from material held as Electronic Legal Deposit (usually accessed via designated computers). This material will be delivered in printed form only for a charge of £2 per full printout.

To enable this service to run safely and consistently, it is really important that you order only what you need.

Who is eligible to use  Scan and Deliver?

The service is available to all current staff and students. We regret that service is not available to members of  other universities or private researchers, including those with a Reader’s Card.

What items can be requested?

Items in the University Library’s modern collections,  including open and closed stacks, main Reading Room, Modern Collections Desk, Reader Services Desk and  the Library Storage Facility  can be requested; this includes reference items.

Where possible, items from Faculty and Department Libraries can also be requested.

Regrettably, newspapers and Tripos Papers are not available for this service.
