The SPECTRa project to investigate the data handling and long-term repository preservation needs
of chemistry researchers ran from October 2005 - March 2007. The Final Report submitted to JISC contains
a full account of aims/objectives, overall approach, outputs (including the development of
repository interface tools for depositing chemistry data), conclusions and recommendations
In addition to the separately-reported
questionnaire and surveying
which were to undertaken to better understand users' data needs, significant preparation for
the development of an online Sample Manager to handle all aspects of departmental crystal structure submission,
refinement and preservation was undertaken
