What is it?
This resource pack can be used in the Curious Objects exhibition to introduce children to the wide range of natural materials used for written communication. This will help them to explore the properties of different materials and the effect that the availability of materials has had on the history of communication.
How could you use it in the exhibition or classroom?
These resources could be used on a self-guided visit to the current Curious Objects exhibition. There is also a suggestion for a classroom research task looking at a range of historic writing methods and materials.
On your visit to the exhibition, pupils can use the materials flashcards as a starter activity and the communication bingo activity sheet to explore the exhibition further.
