If you need a loan of a book, journal, conference proceedings, thesis or simply need a copy of an article or chapter, follow our three easy steps and we will do our best to acquire what you need.

STEP 1 - Print Out

Please print a copy of our Universal ILL Request form.

STEP 2 - Fill it in

Please complete the form as fully as possible.

STEP 3 - Hand it in or Send it by post

Once the form is filled in, you will need to hand it in with the appropriate fee at the West Room Enquiry Desk, or send it to us in the post with an accompanying cheque for £5.00 if you are a Member of Cambridge University (Current Staff, Student, Alumni, Visiting Scholar) or £12.00 if you are a Non-Member. Cheques should be made payable to 'University of Cambridge'.  Our address is:

Please remember ...

  • A separate form must be completed for each item requested.
  • Items with multiple volumes or parts will require a form for each volume/part required.
  • Loans will be available for consultation in the West Room only and may not be removed from this room.
  • British Ph.D. Theses may already be available to download through EThOS
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to acquire Theses from the University of Oxford. You will need to contact Oxford directly for these.
