Reimagining the future University Library

Have your say on how the University Library spaces evolve into the future, with a focus on sustainability, accessibility, and inspiring learning for generations to come.

We welcome students, researchers, academics, and the wider public to the University Library on West Road, and we want to understand the needs of everyone, now and into the future.

With your help we will protect and create:

A sustainable University Library
As one of the University’s largest buildings, and a listed heritage site, we need and want to be a part of achieving the University of Cambridge’s commitment to net zero emissions.

A library accessible and welcoming for all
We want the Library to be inclusive by design, to be a gateway to knowledge for all, meeting the needs of students, academics, researchers and the public.

Spaces to learn and be inspired
With a variety of different study spaces, one of the largest collections on open shelves in Europe, in a stunning historical building, we need your insight on the spaces you use and want to have.

Our collections and heritage shared with the world
The University Library is home to one of the world’s great collections of cultural treasures and research materials – growing all the time. We need to keep this vital information safe and available.

With careful thought, we want to invest in maintaining this iconic building, plan for the future, and provide the best library experience for everyone – enabling discoveries that could change the world.

This is your chance to help shape the University Library.

The survey will only take a few minutes. It goes perfectly with a cup of tea.

The survey will be open until Friday 15 March (midnight).

Thank you for being a part of the Library.
