You I and Samurai Exhibition Activity

*Due to unprecedented interested, we have temporarily run out of activity sheets. More are being printed and will be available shortly. Please email events@lib.cam.ac.uk if you would like to contact us before your visit.*

Japanese samurai warriors were brave and fearless... in some stories. In others they are peaceful and mild. Stories change depending on when they were created, who made them and who they were for. What would a samurai story be like if it was made today, by you, for someone special? Armed with a story-making activity booklet, find your samurai story by looking closely at medieval manuscripts, an illustrated board game, miniature books decorated with real gold, a beautiful bamboo flute and lots more, all on display at Cambridge University Library’s current exhibition, Samurai: History and Legend.

Story-making booklets, pencils and step stools will be available just outside the gallery to take in with you. Once you've created your story, you will take inspiration from the paper folding techniques on display to create your own samurai story book at home. Samurai: History and Legend is available to visit from 9am-6.30pm Monday-Friday and 9am-4.30pm Saturdays, and will be open until Saturday 28th May 2022. Please check our opening hours page for closure dates.

Who: This activity is suitable for ages 7-11.

Accessibility: Our exhibition is wheelchair-friendly. Accessible parking, step-free access and accessible toilets are available. Booklets are located at our regular entrance at the top of some steps. Please let us know in advance if you require support in accessing the booklets by emailing events@lib.cam.ac.uk.
