Cambridge thinking has been transforming the world for 800 years, and our new voyages of exploration will map the boundaries of knowledge for centuries to come.

This thought leadership begins in spaces like Cambridge University Library.

Tucked away from the busy streets of the city but long embedded in Cambridge’s intellectual heart, the Library is home to a physical collection of nearly ten million books, maps, manuscripts, photographs and priceless objects. Our iconic building provides a sanctuary of learning and discovery, welcoming hundreds of people through our doors every day. Here they find the space to work, study, learn, meet, collaborate and think.

Since its inception in 1416, the University Library has become a much-loved resource and refuge for the life of the mind. It’s a living place—and it continues to evolve. The generosity of our supporters helps to ensure that we can keep this very special place open and accessible to a full range of people, from Cambridge and beyond.

Will you consider making a gift to the University Library?

Past, present and future: our shared heritage

New discoveries are made every year. Your gift helps us to continue to expand, examine, protect and preserve our invaluable collections, which encompass thousands of years of human thought and discovery—and to build our future.

We need state-of-the-art physical spaces to support learning and research across every discipline.

We must invest in digital resources and technologies to empower students and researchers to stay at the cutting edge of a fast-moving educational landscape.

Please donate and help the world to write its next chapter of discovery and innovation.
