A building designed by H. C. Hughes on the New Museums Site, adorned with a sprightly crocodile by Eric Gill, commemorating the nickname for Ernest Rutherford of Pierre Kaptiza (ADR in Magnetic Research, 1925-35) for whom the laboratory was built with a gift of £15,000 by the Royal Society (from a fund bequeathed by Dr Ludwig Mond) in 1933. Now divided between Aerial Photography and the Computing Service.
