In Easter term, there are increased opportunities to book a study space, book to consult material, and borrow items at the University Library.

Current University of Cambridge students can book a study space in two locations:

Main Reading Room

  • 10:00-12:30 or 14:00-16:30 Monday-Friday. From 04 May, these hours will extend to 09:30-13:30 and 14:00-18:00 on weekdays. 
  • 11:15-15:00 on Saturdays. 

Commonwealth Room 

  • 09.00-16.30 Monday-Friday


Current University of Cambridge students and staff can book to consult material

  • Special Collections Reading Room sessions are available 10:00-12:30 and 14:00-16:30 Monday-Friday, 11:30-15:15 on Saturdays. From 04 May, these hours will extend to 10:00-13:15 and 13:45-17:00 on weekdays.

  • Main Reading Room sessions to consult non-borrowable modern material are available 10:00-12:30 or 14:00-16:30 Monday-Friday. From 04 May, these hours will extend to 09:30-13:30 and 14:00-18:00 on weekdays.

  • Sessions to consult Electronic Legal Deposit material are available 10:00-12:30 and 14:00-16:30 Monday-Friday. From 04 May, these hours will extend to 09:30-13:30 and 14:00-18:00 on weekdays.

​Current University members can now book ahead for these extended sessions.


Borrowing is available to current University members through Click & Collect and Browse & Borrow.


We continue to support current University members not in residence in Cambridge with our zero-contact services, Scan & Deliver and Ask a Curator, and our online services

Most Faculty and Department Libraries offer a blend of in-person, zero-contact and online services in Easter term.
