The doors to the Rare Books Reading Room, Manuscripts Reading Room, Music Room and Aoi East Asian Reading Room are kept closed due to the need to maintain the correct conditions for the use of special collections material. The doors can be heavy and cumbersome; if you would like assistance, please let Reader Services staff know and they will be pleased to open doors for any user requiring help.

If a specific room is not suitable for you to use, please alert staff and they will endeavour to find an alternative room to deliver material to. This can take some time, so advance notice would be extremely helpful.

Special collections material may not be suitable to be made available in an alternative format. With several weeks’ notice, it may be possible to provide a one-to-one with a library staff member. Please contact disability@lib.cam.ac.uk to request this.

You may also like to check to see if the item you want to consult is available through the Cambridge University Digital Library.
