Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was "Oh no, not again". Adams, D. (1979). The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Since July 2016, there has been a new waste contractor for the University. Mick George Ltd. was awarded the contract on a zero-to-landfill basis.

Unbroken glass is counted as part of the [green] recycling stream but it has to be collected separately in white-lidded bins.

The external waste bins now have correctly colour-coded lids to ensure that the correct waste is placed in the correct bins.

This is important as General Waste [blue bins] costs the University twice as much per tonne to recycle as the other streams.

The internal waste bins are now correctly colour-coded and labelled, which will result in correct transfer to the external bins.

Please see the Waste Streams page for more information and the Frequently Asked Questions page for updates.
