The National Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded Cambridge University Library funding for the project Black British Voices: Black British Collections.
This project will use Cambridge University Library’s extensive collections to explore and amplify the voices of Black British communities from 1900 to the present. The project is anchored by the findings of the Black British Voices Report (2023), the largest study to date on the opinions and attitudes of Black people in Britain.
By connecting historical records with contemporary experiences, Black British Voices: Black British Collections will empower communities to tell their stories, fostering a nuanced understanding of Black British identities. Developed in collaboration with community partners and an academic lead at the University of Cambridge, the project will ensure that this vital history is better represented and understood.
You’ll find updates to the project on this page.
