Living Water – Public Exhibition Opening
All are invited to join Cambridge University Library as we celebrate the launch of our new exhibition, Living Water: Poetry, Art and the Fight for Clean Rivers.
For decades the artist Barrie Cooke maintained a friendship with the poets Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes. Firing the imagination of each, the bond was grounded in ancient landscapes, particularly of Ireland, a love of fishing, and the rising levels of pollution in the rivers and waters that inspired their creativity.
Living Water is an exhibition that explores the relationship between the three and will focus on the artistic and cultural circles in which they operated, how land, water and nature influenced their work and the creeping horror at the increasing pollution in the watercourses of Britain, Ireland and beyond.
Drinks will be available to purchase to enjoy in our fabulous Art Deco building.
This event is being hosted as part of the Cambridge Festival.
