Cambridge University Library

Cambridge University Library will be offering a variety of ways for visitors in person to interact with our 600th anniversary exhibition, Lines of Thought: Discoveries that Changed the World. These include Friday Hosted Visits, General Tours and Specialist Curator Tours.

Friday Hosted Visits

Every Friday morning between 10.30 and 11.00 (excepting Good Friday, when the Library and Milstein Exhibition Centre will be closed) a member of Library staff will be present to answer questions about exhibits, highlight their own favourite items, and offer general guidance on the exhibition and the Library. No booking necessary.

General Tours

Bookable 30-minute General Tours are also available with members of the Library’s Special Collections team. These will provide a more in-depth presentation of the themes that have created the display and the way in which the Lines of Thought develop across centuries and millennia. These tours are available at the following times:

Thursday 24 March at 14.30

Wednesday 4 May at 11.00

Saturday 11 June at 14.30

Friday 15 July at 14.30

Tuesday 27 September at 10.00

Places are limited to 15 people, and can be booked by visiting http://linesofthought.eventbrite.co.uk

Specialist Curator Tours

These tours will be led by the individual curators who created each of the Lines of Thought, who will be able to answer even your most fiendish questions about the items on display, and give an insider’s understanding of the stories told by the books, manuscripts and artefacts they have selected. These tours are available at the following times:

Monday 21 March at 11.00, Literature (with an extra display of items in the Milstein Seminar Room)

Thursday 28 April at 14.30, Understanding gravity

Tuesday 24 May at 16.00, History of the Library (with an extra display of items in the Milstein Seminar Room)

Saturday 25 June at 14.30, Faith

Tuesday 19 July at 11.00, Communication

Thursday 22 September at 11.00, Anatomy

Places are limited to 15 people, and can be booked by visiting http://linesofthought.eventbrite.co.uk
