Welcome to the Library’s Reader Registration webpages. Here, you will find information about access to Cambridge University Library as well as contact details if you need to find out more.
The following categories of readers can access or apply for access (for full details of entitlements and documents needed on application, please refer to Eligibility for access to the University Library).Please note that researchers wishing to access the University Library must be aged 18 years or over.
- All members of the University of Cambridge are welcome to use the Library. Please note that you may need to bring some supporting documentation. See ‘Eligibility’ for full details.
- Academic staff, research students and taught postgraduate students from other universities can apply to use the Library for reference.
- Undergraduate students from other UK universities can apply to use the Library for reference outside University of Cambridge full terms.
- Private and business researchers may apply to use the Library for reference if their research requires access to materials held at the University Library.
A £10 administration charge for 6 months (or £20 for 12 months) applies to applicants from non-UK universities and the public. Temporary tickets valid for 1 week within any twelve-month period are free of charge.
From 3 May 2017 the reader card pricing structure will change: 1 week = Free (one per year), 1 month = £8.00, 6 months = £15.00, 1 year = £28.00.
Applicants wishing to renew their access to the Library will also need to complete an application form, and present documentation, as detailed in Eligibility for access.
