Order of seniority; the name given to the lists of those graduating BA up to 1747 and those graduating MA for rather longer. The ordo was originally an order of precedence among the graduates of a given year, but by the early eighteenth century had evolved into an order of merit, especially in the upper echelons, after which men were usually listed in college groups. For further details see The Historical Register (1910), pages 355 to 358.
