Biography:
Pat Easterling is the first female Regius Professor of Greek at the university. She is recognised as an expert Greek literature, particularly tragedy, its performance and reception from antiquity and also in later cultures. Easterling read Classics at Newnham College Cambridge, graduating in 1955. She held posts at Newnham and the Cambridge Classics Faculty from 1958 until 1987, when she was appointed Professor of Greek at University College London. She returned to Cambridge in 1994 as a Professorial Fellow at Newnham.
