Cambridge University Library

Friends of the Library summer party

Discover billions of words, millions of books, and thousands of years of human thought and discovery as a Friend of Cambridge University Library. Whether it's a treat for yourself or a gift for someone else, a Friends membership is a great way to keep up with all of our exhibitions, events, and news.

Membership of the Friends includes exclusive talks and events, access behind the scenes, an annual Friends Bulletin and updates from the Library in our Friends e-newsletter. Our events range from summer parties, exhibition openings, tours with our curators and conservators, and visits to archives and libraries across Cambridge.

If you have any feedback or suggestions for events or your membership, get in touch with us at

Joining & Renewing

You can join the Friends or renew your membership online here. We encourage direct debit subscriptions as a quick and easy way to set up your membership – select “recurring gift” on the form to set one up. You can also pick up a Friends form from the Library helpdesk, or send a cheque to the Friends of Cambridge University Library, made out to The University of Cambridge.

Annual memberships start at £10 for students and £35 for a single membership (£50 for a joint membership).

If you would like to give more to the Library, now is an exciting time to consider becoming a Patron of Cambridge University Library. Our Patrons are highly valued supporters of the Library whose generosity directly supports research, conservation, acquisitions, exhibitions and other aspects of the Library’s work, based on your interests. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss more about becoming a Patron.
