During Lockdown 3, our libraries continue to support you as you study, teach and research. Access the libraries online and seek support via our remote services or, if the material you need isn’t available electronically, use our Zero-contact services

Cambridge University Library

Scan & Deliver allows current staff and students (including ICE staff and students, and NHS partners) to request an individual scanned copy of one chapter (or 5%) of a monograph or one article per issue of a journal from collections held by Cambridge University Libraries, subject to relevant  conservation approval and copyright permissions.

Free digital scans of University Library Special Collections items may be ordered for personal research use if the material is suitable for scanning and the volume of the request is reasonable.

It is possible to order a printout of a chapter or article from material held as Electronic Legal Deposit (usually accessed via designated computers). This material will be delivered in printed form only for a charge of £2 per full printout.

To enable this service to run safely and consistently, it is really important that you order only what you need.

Who is eligible to use  Scan & Deliver?

The service is available to all current staff and students. We regret that service is not available to members of  other universities or private researchers, including those with a Reader’s Card.

What items can be requested?

Items in the University Library’s modern collections,  including open and closed stacks,  Main reading room, West Room and  the Library Storage Facility  can be requested; this includes reference items.

Where possible, items from Faculty and Department Libraries can also be requested.

Regrettably, newspapers and uncatalogued items are not available for this service.

We are experiencing a very high demand for scans from the modern collections at the moment. Whilst we are working hard to process requests as quickly as possible, this level of demand increases the time it takes for us to deliver your scan.

You may request items from University Library Special Collections as well as maps,  sheet music, microfilms, theses and items in the Asian & Near and Middle Eastern collections.
