The Inter-Library Loans Standard Service aims to process and respond to requests within seven working days. Additional time may be required if the item is held at one of the Cambridge Backup Libraries.

Standard Prices

From 1st August 2023, our standard charges are as follows:

Up to a maximum weight of 2kg - Target dispatch within 7 working days
  Copies of article / chapter
Up to a maximum of 100 pages (depending on condition of volume) - Target dispatch within 5 working days

How to make a request

Please contact the Inter-Library Loans team, providing us with all the relevant citation information and whether you require a loan or a copy. Libraries will need to quote their British Library Billing Account number and provide us with a reference number for each request. Multi-volume works will require a request number per volume.

Loan Terms and Conditions

Cambridge University Library offers a six week loan period from the date of dispatch, but all items are subject to recall if required by a Cambridge user. All loans are strictly "for use in library only" but in many cases, copying or scanning is permitted (if undertaken by a member of Library staff) and adheres to UK Copyright Law.

We are also happy to offer renewals at no extra charge, providing the item has not been recalled. Please contact us by email if a renewal is required.
