Archive has sketches - holograph in pencil, signed, with annotations in coloured pencil. Sketches also include sketches for the feature film The way ahead. Also score - holograph in pencil, signed. Two further hands appear on the score, Alan Rawsthorne's hand in ink with annotations in red pencil, and an unknown hand which is neither Rawsthorne's nor Marc Blitzstein's (he was also involved at an early stage with the score, although his contribution appears not to have survived) in pencil. There are also notes to Muir Mathieson in pencil in Alwyn's hand. 
"Army film by William Alwyn and another? or scored by A. Rawsthorne? Yes!" In unknown hand in ink - "yes!" has been added in pencil and is in Doreen Carwithen's hand -- p.3.
