Cambridge University Library

The papers of Sir Samuel John Gurney Hoare (1880-1959), second Baronet, and first and last Viscount Templewood, were presented to the University Library in 1960 by his executors. Further material has since been received from the family. The collection consists of over one hundred archive boxes and bound volumes. It includes an important gathering of general political papers, covering the whole of Templewood's life, in approximately chronological order. Several files relate to his literary output, while the collection also includes numerous papers and letters relating to the Hoare family, as well as official Cabinet papers from the 1920s and 1930s.

The Templewood papers are open to holders of full Library reader's tickets. A detailed catalogue and index to the collection is available in the Manuscripts Reading Room, and there is also an online guide.
